6-6:45pmThe Whaley House Museum offers an interpreted tour for the deaf and hard of hearing, in which visitors will be able to explore and learn about the site through sign language interpreters.
Julie Foleno, Carrie Kaufmann, Denise Lonngren, Eric Sudhalter, and Rachael Sudhalter have been working with SOHO in order to make this tour possible.
Chicago native, Julie Foleno, has been interpreting in San Diego for two years. She currently has her Educational Interpreting Certification. Julie is fascinated by San Diego's beauty and the history behind the city. She is thrilled to be interpreting for the Save Our Heritage Organization and the Whaley House. She hopes to see you there!
Carrie Kaufmann has been an Interpreter in San Diego for six years, and has her National Interpreting Certification. She was born and raised here in San Diego, and finds the history of San Diego fascinating. She came to the Whaley House as a child and is happy to have the opportunity to be involved in educating the Deaf community on the history of San Diego.
Denise Lonngren is a Certified Interpreter with RID, and has been interpreting in San Diego for four years. She has had a life long fascination with mysteries and ghosts.
Eric Sudhalter graduated from the Palomar College Interpreter Training Program in May of 2005, and has since gained experience in a variety of Interpreting environments. In 2009, he attained his National Interpreting Certificate. He had never experienced the Whaley House, but is always looking for a new challenge or a unique environment in which to provide services to the Deaf community.
Rachael Sudhalter has been interpreting for the past five years in a variety of settings. She obtained a BA in Anthropology from SDSU in 2001 and graduated from the Interpreter Training Program at Palomar College in 2008. Rachael has lived in Southern California all her life. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her husband and son.
